Plaisance elderly home administrator Danny Laporte thanked the IDC and added that although the residents are not in very good health, this does not prevent them from enjoying themselves during such activities.
IDC’s public relations and communications manager Thelma Pool said it was a pleasure for her company to share the lunch with the residents and present them with gifts.
“We are aware that as a company we have a responsibility towards the society,” said Ms Pool.
This is the first time the IDC has hosted lunch for residents of the Plaisance home for the elderly and it hopes to adopt this place in the future, she added.
The gifts comprised wine, desserts, biscuits, juice, cakes and ice-creams.
The event started with a blessing by Anglican priest, Father Peter Rath.
Miss Pool said the IDC wanted to bring cheer to the elderly people at the Plaisance home and let them know they are not alone.
“We have done it out of love for these people,” she added.
“The IDC organised the lunch in recognition of the elderly people at the Plaisance home as it feels the need to do more for the Plaisance community – its assigned area during the ‘Clean up the world’ campaign.”
