Ministry of Education, Employment and Human Resources Department of Education 18.07.11 PRESS RELEASE Training Workshops-Exchange Programme with Lampton School UK Following the launching of the Student Associations in Secondary Schools and Post-Secondary Institutions on the 1st of July 2011, the Department of Education is hosting an Exchange Programme with the Lampton School from United Kingdom from 18th July to 28th July 2011 to further expose local students to develop leadership capacities as well as be more empowered to discharge their role as student leaders. The purpose of the visit is for the students of Lampton School U.K who are trained students’ leaders to facilitate training workshop for students’ leaders of secondary and post-secondary institutions. Similarly, U.K teachers will facilitate workshops for teachers of Secondary schools and Post Secondary institutions. The series of training workshops was launched by Director General for School Mrs Odile Octave during a launching ceremony on Tuesday 19th July 2011 at the School of Education Auditorium, Mont Fleuri. The exchange which involves a visit of a group of 10 students accompanied by 2 teachers arriving in Seychelles on Monday 18th July is also in the context of an ongoing partnership with Lampton School which exists since 2008. While in Seychelles, the delegation will be accommodated at the Youth Hostel Anse-Royale and aside from the training workshops for student leaders and teachers other organised visits have also been scheduled. Editors note: In 2009, support provider Mrs Merina Andimignon spent 10 days on attachment in Lampton School to deepen her knowledge on Special Education Needs. Schools and Department of Education have also in the past benefited from donations from Lampton School in the form of books and equipment.
