Nigeria's Former President Obasanjo tells Seychelles Tourism & Culture Minister of Seychelles that he will be back

Major General Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria met Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture at the annual general meeting (AGM) 2016 of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) that is being held in Seychelles onSaturday 23rd July 2016.
Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles said as he welcomed former President Obasanjo of Nigeria to Seychelles that he hoped that the former President was having quality time to also discover and appreciate the Seychelles. "I am so happy and I will be back soon" said former President Obasanjo before adding that what you are doing is great. 
In an interview with the national press, former President Obasanjo stated that Afreximbank’s meetings will put the limelight on Seychelles as a potential country for investors in Africa. “You cannot have a better means of showcasing what this country is doing and attract investments”.

About 130 guests joined Travel & Leisure Publisher, Mr Joseph Messer and  Travel &Leisure editor, Mr Nathan Lump at 620 Loft & Garden at the Rockefeller Center in New York City on Wednesday 20th July, to celebrate the 2016 Annual World’s Best Awards.

The ceremony honored Travel & Leisure readers picks of the Best Hotels, Destinations, Airlines, Cruise Lines, Outfitters and transportation  brands in Travel.

David Germain, the Seychelles Tourism Board Director for Africa and the Americas was present to receive the Award for Seychelles – named by Travel & Leisure Readers as the
-          No1 Island in Africa & the Middle East – Worlds Best Award 2016.

Mr Germain said “ the Seychelles Tourism Board and Seychelles as a whole is extremely proud of this achievement, Seychelles is a unique group of islands with outstanding natural beauty and unique attractions, a destination with a committed approach to sustainable tourism, providing an example of best practice for other destinations around the world “ he said.

“The Award helps to garner recognition, and provide a significant amount of visibility for our islands to a worldwide audience, It proves further, that our beautiful islands is becoming more and more popular, topping the list of the most desirable holiday destinations worldwide “ Mr Germain said.

President Michel receives Former President Obasanjo at State House

President James Michel met with Major General Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria at State House this morning. Former President Obasanjo will be participating in African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in the annual general meeting (AGM) to be held in Seychelles on Saturday 23rd July 2016.
President Michel expressed his appreciation for Afreximbank’s support in a number of projects in Seychelles and former President Obasanjo’s attendance to the Bank’s AGM. “Afreximbank’s is an appropriate vehicle in the promotion of development in Africa. Your presence will give added and valuable visibility to [Afreximbank’s] meeting.” said President Michel.
For his part, former President Obasanjo commended President Michel for the successful work done in the economic development of Seychelles and the “quiet progress” of the country. He thanked the President for hosting the Afreximbank’s AGM in Seychelles. Discussions also addressed the economic development prospects of Africa as well as the healthy bilateral relationship between Seychelles and Nigeria during the former Nigerian president’s tenure, a relationship which is now continuing.

Also present at the meeting this morning were the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport, Mr. Joel Morgan, the Governor of Central Bank of Seychelles, Ms. Caroline Abel and the President's Diplomatic Adviser, Ambassador Callixte D'Offay.

Le Président James Michel a reçu le Ministre des Affaires étrangères et de la Coopération du Royaume du Maroc, Monsieur Salaheddine Mezouar à State House, ce mercredi matin.
Monsieur Michel a exprimé sa satisfaction pour la qualité des liens d’amitié et de coopération entre les deux pays dans plusieurs domaines, au nombre desquels l’éducation et la santé.
Durant leur entretien, le Président Michel et le Ministre Mezouar ont convenu de la nécessité de renforcer la coopération également dans les domaines du commerce et l’investissement, le tourisme, la formation, la sécurité maritime et le sport.
Ils ont également abordé les questions liées au changement climatique et les défis des Petits États insulaires en développement, dans la perspective de la Conférence des Parties (COP 22) prévue du 7 au 18 novembre à Marrakech, au Maroc.
«L’accord de Paris sur le changement climatique a donné espoir à l’humanité à travers les engagements pris pour la sauvegarde de la planète. Nous misons beaucoup sur la COP22 à Marrakech en termes de concrétisation de ces engagements surtout au niveau des options financières prises pour les pays les plus vulnérables comme les PEID. Nous espérons que cette conférence sera celle de l’action et pourra mettre en route les dynamiques et les mécanismes nécessaires dans ce sens,» a affirmé le Président Michel.
Étaient également présents à la rencontre le Ministre des Affaires Etrangères et des Transports, M. Joel Morgan, la Chef de Presse à la Présidence, Mme. Srdjana Janosevic, le Consul Honoraire du Maroc aux Seychelles, M. Kongre ti adopte en rezolisyon pour aprouv 25 kandida ki pou reprezant Parti Lepep dan sa prosen eleksyon Lasanble Nasyonal. Sa ti swivi par lansman kanpanny anba tenm ‘Pli Determinen Ki Zanmen.’
